How much does it cost to get a green card?
Applying for a green card typically requires many forms to be submitted. Typically, all forms have their own fees. To file for a family-based green card, a person must file forms I-130 and I-485 or DS-260 if the family member is abroad. Additionally, people applying for a green card must have a civil surgeon conduct a medical exam.
The application fee for Petition for Alien Relative I-130 form costs $535 payable directly to the United State Department of Homeland Security.
The application fee for I-485 is $1,140 plus an $85 biometrics fee for applicants between the ages of 14 and 78. Form I-485’s fee is the same for applicants under 14 and 79 or older but no biometrics fee is charged. Also, applicants under 14 years of age applying with at least one parent only pay $750 for an I-485 form.
The fee for form DS-260 in 2023 is $325.
